On average, Australians use 130kg of plastic per person each year. What if there was a way to reuse and repurpose this plastic? That’s where Trash Roads comes in. This team will start an initiative which involves using single-use plastics that would have otherwise gone to landfill, to be made into roads especially into newer developments. Plastic will also be used to patch up roads and fix pot holes. This gives plastic a new life, and makes roads longer lasting.
To trial this idea, the team will partner with the Geelong community to collect single-use plastics and littered plastics to create an art installation in the CBD which represents the amount of plastic produced.
