Despite a growing awareness of the damaging effect humans wreak on the environment, we are not doing enough, both individually and as a society, to adapt our behaviours and practices in a positive way.
Enter #helpthetrees. This team want to create a living hashtag out of trees. From the air, the trees will spell out #helpthetrees.
The team’s vision is to use this living attraction as an opportunity to start a social media trend, to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our plant, in particular tree life.
The goal is to create a viral trend, like the Ice Bucket Challenge, where friends will nominate their friends to plant 3 trees, then nominate another 3 friends to do the same.
To trial the idea, the team will launch their idea at a school assembly at Warrnambool College. They will create an Instagram page and add short videos highlighting fun and engaging ways people can have an impact.
