In Australia, only 50% of women feel safe walking alone at night, compared with 80% of men.

Diamond in the Rough hope to change this, empowering women to feel safe whilst looking fashionable with their discreet, self defence jewellery designs.

This jewellery line will have three key pieces: a ring which has access to your contacts and can make emergency calls; a necklace that using Face ID technology to recognise criminals and record footage for police; and earrings that can share your location if needed. Eventually, the jewellery line hopes to expand with options for gender-neutral designs, including watches or chains. This team ‘wants everyone to feel safe and secure, no matter who they are or where they are from’.

To help keep women safe in their community, the team will run an educational program for Year 7 and Year 8 girls at Loreto on how to keep safe and look out for your friends, hoping to extend this program to all local schools.
