This project addresses the growing problem of single-use plastics polluting oceans and landfill. The concept explores the creation of an eco-friendly edible plastic that could replace some traditional plastic packaging. Made from biodegradable materials and available in unique flavours such as matcha or chocolate, the product aims to reduce plastic waste while creating a fun and innovative alternative for consumers.
A key benefit of the idea is that the material would safely break down in the environment and could even act as a natural fertiliser for gardens, helping support plant growth instead of contributing to landfill. By reducing plastic waste and limiting the amount of microplastics entering ecosystems and food systems, the project aims to protect biodiversity and promote more sustainable habits.
To raise awareness, the team plans to deliver an engaging educational presentation at a local primary school. Through interactive activities, games and small prizes, they will teach younger students about the environmental impacts of plastic waste and encourage them to think creatively about sustainable solutions for the future.
