Period poverty is a real issue facing many people in our community, globally, an estimated 500 million people who menstruate lack access to menstrual products and hygiene facilities. That is where the Sanitary Product Comes in. It will be a box made up of donated sanitary products that will provided to those who lack access to period products. It will allow those living in poverty to have access to basic sanitary products.
To trial this idea, the team will ask students within their school to donate sanitary products and then partner with a local organisation to provide those products to those who are lacking access, whether that be those who are experiencing homelessness or those who aren’t able to afford period products.
