Domestic violence affects 1 in 6 women in their life and usually involves a current or pervious partner. This issue continues to be a major Australian health and welfare issue and so many individuals stories have not been heard. In order to address this issue this team has developed the idea; The Wall of Voices.
The WOV uses art forms to promote empathy and engagement with the topic of domestic violence. It will involve outdoor installations with small QR codes which will be placed around the Geelong CBD to tell the stories of those who are often silenced. It will include artworks and short stories shared by anonymous victims. The QR code will take users to a site to learn more about the story and a directory of professional help resources.
To trial this idea, the team want to partner with a small number of local artists to produce a collection which can be placed around the community. Each artwork will have a QR code to learn more.
