We need to find new ways to connect the community after the last couple of years of isolation and disconnection. That’s where The Garden Library comes in. The Garden Library will be a space for people to relax and connect located in a central park or green space in the hustle and bustle of the city. It will be a space to read and converse about books, hobbies and experiences amongst lush greenery and nature. Many people live busy, stressful lives and they need a space to just unplug and experinece peace and quiet.
To trial this idea, the team will run a one-off pop-up library in the Botanical Gardens in the Brisbane CBD. They will invite a class of students from Kimberley College to attend as an excursion and they will invite residents from a local aged care facility to come along, connect and share their stories. It will be a safe space where the older and younger generation will be able to develop relationships and share their experiences as part of different generations, growing up in a different time.
