Walking home alone at night without the fear of being attacked should be a freedom that everyone has. Unfortunately, especially for women, it is not the case, with people feeling unsafe on our streets.
Brendan, Willy, Jack and Rhi have developed an idea to help combat this, with a design for a button that can be installed on the heel of your shoes. If a person feels unsafe on the street, they can click their heels together twice, and the installed button will trigger a signal to be sent to the nearest police station.
To help young people feel safer on the streets, the team will organise various self-defence sessions over a three-month period for year 7 students at Catholic College Wodonga.
