Feeling ‘different’ can be a real challenge. But, feeling different AND unseen and unsupported can eat away at our sense of self and at our personal value.
This team would like to run an event called Run for the Rainbow, to promote LGBTQIA+ support, connection and allyship.
They envision a community event, where local schools, students and families could get involved to participate in a colour run, which will also include market stalls, games and food.
The event is designed for the community to stand behind the LGBTQIA+ community, to highlight that they are valued members of the community. The event will also raise funds to build non-binary (NB) toilets on school campuses.
To trial their idea, the team will hold an event on campus at Warrnambool College, with participants competing in a fun run and BBQ afternoon. Funds will be used to build NB bathrooms at Warrnambool College, so all students have access to everyday amenities many take for granted.
