Single-use plastics are a massive pollutant that deplete our natural resources, encourage attitudes of mindless consumerism and threaten/kill wildlife. To combat this issue, this team have developed an idea called One & Done.
Their idea is to create universal packaging standards, so that regardless of the company, all packaging looks the same and can therefore simply be recycled and returned to any major company for re-use.
To trial their idea, the team would like to provide students at KIC with reusable cups and containers which they can use in lieu of single-use and recyclable plastics they normally collect from the canteen. They would like to connect with a packaging manufacturer, who will sponsor this program.
From there, they will survey the users and incorporate feedback into the ongoing development of their idea.
