Have you ever heard the saying “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime”? Well, this team have transformed the wisdom behind this quote into a crazy good program that teaches young people the true story behind their food.
Their big idea was to launch a large-scale excursion program in which secondary school students visit farms and work 1:1 with farmers to learn about each step of the food production process, including production, prop cultivation and management, harvesting, supply chain management, resource management and more. Rather than providing a temporary solution, they are committed to imparting knowledge and skills that empower the younger generation to understand and participate in the sustainable and long-term cultivation of food.
To scale their idea into a manageable initiative, the team aim to launch their program in partnership with a local farm and limit places to 3 or 4 students over a term.
