Innovation is at the core of this environmentally conscious idea. This team has developed the next big thing: Eco Line, a biodegradable fishing line that will dissolve in the ocean to reduce the impact plastic fishing line has on marine life.
The team has identified that there is more plastic pollution in the ocean than ever before. Eco Line is a step in the right direction, to prevent unnecessary fishing lines and drift nets from destroying our ocean ecosystems.
To trial this idea, the team will work with their school to organise a beach clean up day that will involve students collecting plastic waste from the local beaches, then repurposing it. The clean up will be an inter-school competition that will reduce plastic across the beaches of the Surf Coast.
