Each year we waste around 7.6 million tonnes of food across the supply and consumption chain. That’s where Eat-O-Meter comes in. Eat-O-Meter is a system which will allow businesses to offer customers the opportunity to choose specific meal sizes in order to reduce food waste.
To trial this idea, the team will to put a CTA out to local cafes in Warrnambool to see if one-to-two cafes would like to be involved in the trial. Each café will be asked to weigh their daily food wastage for a week prior ot implementating the system. Then they will implement the system and weight the daily food waste to compare the result with beforehand. Based on the success and viabiltity, the team will then hope the continue to work with more cafes.
