Starting Secondary school is a tense and often scary time of transition for many young people, it can cause all sorts of anxiety and wellbeing issues when Yr. 7’s can’t connect and feel isolated. ‘Connect’ is here to ensure all Yr. 6 students feel a sense of connection and belonging well before they enter the secondary school gates as a Yr.7 student.
Yr. 7 students will write a letter to their allocated Yr.6 buddy to introduce themselves and build rapport, so their Yr.6 buddy already has a friend before they step through the secondary school gate for the first time next year.
To trial this idea the team is going to recruit school mates to write letters to one class of Yr.6 students and get ‘Connect’ cracking a smaller scale to learn how to build a bigger program next year.
