Increasing positive attitudes towards school and education can have a variety of benefits, from increased productivity and engagement to improved mental health and wellbeing. To increase positivity in the school environment, this team has developed an inspired idea called 5-Day-Focus (5DF). 5Df will be a week-long event offered to all schools across Geelong to improve the attitudes students have towards school. Each day will involve a specific focus for all members of the school.
To trial this idea, the team will run a Year 7 focus day just with students from Matthew Flinders. It will be a lunchtime event which will involve a staff vs. student dodgeball match. There will also be a guest speaker from the AFLW who will address the issues of balance and other challenges young people may face in their lives and some strategies to overcome these challenges.
