Stereotyping can be extremely damaging and stands in the way of individuals understanding each-other’s differences and unique experiences of life.
Lily, Caitlin, Judd, Lincoln & Evan have come up with the crazy good idea to create a VR headset where users can take a virtual tour of someone’s daily life which is different from their own. The group hopes that this VR experience would challenge stereotypes and facilitate more community understanding. For example, a male can experience what a day at school is like for a female and vice versa.
As a smart place to start, this group wants to collaborate with their school leaders at Maffra Secondary College and Catholic College Sale to launch a letter program and TikTok series. The letter program will encourage students to connect with students different from them to discuss their diverse experiences, and the TikTok series will feature video POVs such as walking at night as a female, to create awareness around existing challenges certain groups face.
