Approximately 50% of the rubbish Australians put in the everyday mixed-waste ‘garbage bin’ could be put to better use in the garden as compost. That’s where Regeneration Station comes in. Regeneration Station is a compost bin which will convert biodegradable waste into fertiliser and it will be available in every community across Australia, an accessible and easy way to compost. It will reduce all of that biodegradable waste ending up in landfill.
To trial this idea, the team will trial implementing a compost bin in one local neighbourhood in the Gold Coast and they will collect data on the amount that has been composted by the community, it will also educate people on the importance of composting biodegradable waste.
